The crisis in Greece is the justification for imposing austerity in exchange for lower Greek bond yields. The economic or financial market justification for this trade off is questionable. But that kind of thinking will be used to justify ‘austerity’ bit by bit everywhere. So European countries have lost control of monetary policy, foreign exchange policy and now fiscal policy. Great. Work does not make free, not then, not now.
